Zachary Levi Talks ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Casting, Calls Hemsworth A Rock Star

Consider this as much an excuse for me to mention a piece of Thor: the Dark World casting news that I failed to put on the site. Zachary Levi, who is replacing Josh Dallas as Fandral the Dashing for God of Thunder’s second installment, spoke to EOnline about joining the cast and working with the celebrated star of the franchise.

By my count, this is the third character to be recast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after Rhodey (Terrence Howard, Don Cheadle) and Bruce Banner (Edward Norton, Mark Ruffalo). Fandral wasn’t an integral character in Thor, doing little more than running around with the Warriors Three and adding some humor. In this installment it is likely the role will be more important dramatically, as he’s one of the big guns in the war that’s about to happen.

Said Levi about replacing Dallas:

I was a little trepidatious about stepping into that because someone had already done it. But everyone’s embraced me wholeheartedly and been very cool.

And about working with Chris Hemsworth:

He’s an awesome guy. Brand new baby. He’s a new dad, [has] a lovely wife, the whole nine. He’s a rock star.
