When it comes to Seinfeld, only Jerry’s apartment is more immediately recognizable than the diner. The difference between the two is that the diner is a real place, Tom’s Restaurant. It’s so real that a large number of fans that recognize it as Monk’s Diner from the show, along with those that want to visit the eponymous inspiration for the Suzanne Vega song, Tom’s Diner, make a pilgrimage to eat there every year.
Director Gian Franco Morini learned about the restaurant’s storied history and decided to do his own exploration, resulting in a documentary covering everything you wanted do know about a location in a television show about nothing at all. Check it out for yourself:
