Coulson is Alive and Well; We’ll See Him on TV

As “Phase Two” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) ramps into full-speed production, skepticism is shifting to surprise as many of our questions are being answered through casting news, plot summaries and general info gathering.

The latest thing to come across the radar is the satisfying news that Agent Phil Coulson will be headlining the S.H.I.E.L.D. television series. When he was killed at the end of The Avengers, fans were devastated. The heroes in the film were so devastated they set aside their differences and saved the world.

So how will he come back? Two equally likely scenarios exist. The first is that he really wasn’t killed at all. He was on a helicarrier with plenty of medics nearby and Fury lied to make everyone fall in line. That could work.

The second is the one I’m hoping they develop – Coulson is a Life Model Decoy (LMD). The LMD technology has already been introduced into the MCU, so there’s no reason not to think they’ll be using it eventually.

LMD technology can eventually lead to Vision, an android member of the comic book team, and Ultron, one of The Avengers most infamous foes, in an organic way that won’t completely confuse the casual viewer.

Either way, this is good news because it shows that they’re both moving quickly and have some big, big plans.
