7 Songs About Streets (or maybe avenues, roads, boulevards or whatever)

They may be real or imaginary. I don’t discriminate.

Accidentally Kelly Street Frente! Marvin the Album
I don’t know where Kelly Street is, but I’m guessing that it’s somewhere in Australia. Wherever it is, everyone that lives there should be smiling constantly. Whenever I want to smile for no other reason than joy deserves to be externalized, I listen to Frente!

Fascination Street The Cure Disintegration
People have argued with me that the Mixed Up version of Fascination Street is better than this version. Those people are wrong. Regardless, Fascination Street sounds like a fascinating place to visit. I think I visited it sometime in the mid-nineties. Back when The Cure was relevant.

Holloway Boulevard The Popes Holloway Boulevard
This street is real. It’s in London. I’ve never been.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
If ever a wonderful Wiz there was, Elton John is one because of the wonderful things he does, which includes this song. Where does the Red Brick Road lead?

42nd Street Mel Torme
A lot of people have sang this song, but this is the one I like best.

(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66 Nat King Cole
You didn’t see this one coming?

Blue Jay Way The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour
And you thought this would be Abbey Road. That’s a good song, too. George Harrison wrote this song. He’s an underrated songwriter.
